Cryptomundo reader goochcamper has reposted the footage with no watermark. Does this allow you, the Cryptomundo reader, to view it and make out the details now unobstructed?
CNN’s “Paula Zahn Now” Tonight
I will be a guest on CNN tonight, Friday, June 1, 2007, between 8-9 p.m. ET, on Paula Zahn Now, discussing the Gordon Holmes Nessie footage. Yes, this video is exciting a lot of people, but I wish it would have happened some other week, from a purely personal point of view. As the producer was trying to convince me to come on the show via emails and several calls – my first priority, after all, is that it’s my son’s senior prom this evening – she says: “There is a tremendous interest in the story (the most popular story [...]
Best Nessie Footage Yet?
Can you see bumps on the head? A new enhancement of the Gordon Holmes Nessie video, appears to show closeups of the “neck” and “head” popping up out of the water, thanks to Bill Appleton. Major news organizations are demonstrating thoughtful interest in this cryptid footage.
Radio-Controlled Nessie Video
The Gordon Holmes footage newly taken at Loch Ness, which you can view the stablized version here, should have us looking with caution at the footage of an already existing radio-controlled Nessie. Recognize the above image? Is this one of the two photographs of the original “Surgeon’s Photograph” from 1934? Or is it something else? Since 2005, the year when the Japanese toy company Takara introduced their radio-controlled Nessie, we all have to be careful and questioning when looking at new loch and lake videos of cryptids. Here are some photos of the model, in two different color versions, with [...]
Update: Nessie Video Stabilized
The following stabilizations of the new “Nessie” video were created and sent to Cryptomundo by Bill Appleton, Chief Technology Officer, DreamFactory Software, Inc. of Mountain View, CA. It is great footage that seems to show a hump, and then a long neck (perhaps even a head). Eel? Seal? Cryptid long-necked seal? Nessie? Unfortunately, without any reference points, the next question has to be: How big is this? Also, as I’ve said before, film footage is a form of an eyewitness’s experience and needs to be investigated as such. Background checks and a history need to be created on Gordon Holmes. [...]
When Seeing Is Not Believing?
This is a short and stunning demonstration, by skeptic and psychologist Dr Richard Wiseman, that underlines the degree to which expectation can badly distort eyewitness perception — even under clear, well-lit, near-optimal viewing conditions.Daniel Loxton
Update: New Skamania Tubesquatch
An email request for more information regarding this video brought the following reply from the person who uploaded it at youtube. The film was made on Memorial day, which was on a Monday, May 28, 2007 sometime in the afternoon, possibly around 3 & 5:00. This happened at Beacon Rock State Park in Washington that weekend. I was several miles deep on a horse trail when I heard branches breaking to the left of me. In the vicinity of the sound, there was a burning tar smell mixed with what reminded me of rancid milk. This caused me to follow [...]
Update: Nessie Video Posted
Below the image from the video is the news report containing the videotape by Gordon Holmes of the unknown in Loch Ness.
Skeptic Says You Are Stupid
A site calling itself “Action Skeptics” shares, well, let’s say, a hostile view of cryptozoology within Akusai’s blog of May 31, 2007. Clearly, this blogger does not mince words. The subtitle for the site is, “Annoying stupid people, one woo at a time.” I don’t feel too stupid too often, although giving this Akusai a second read and posting his “insights” on Cryptomundo may be my stupidest act for today. Anyway, I know a good deal of Bigfoot and cryptozoology skeptics and researchers are readers of Cryptomundo. I was wondering if the general consensus of skeptics out there falls in [...]
New Nessie Footage
New video footage, apparently somewhat compelling, from Loch Ness has been taken by a scientist, Gordon Holmes. Cryptomundo has technically been unable to upload the video, but you can view it here. [Update: The reported broken link, noted in early comments, has been corrected.] Below is Holmes at the site of his filming. Gordon Holmes told the Yorkshire Post I was sat in a lay-by about 70ft above the loch – it was 10pm but the sun was still shining on the mountains on the other side. I was minutes from going home and I had only gone up there [...]
